April Rogers is a néhiyaw-iskwéw from mikisiwi- wacihk (Red Pheasant First Nation) of Treaty 6 territory, but she was raised by her kokum in Saskatoon. April first got involved with theatre in 2013 when she joined the Saskatchewan Theatre Company now known as Gordon Tootoosis Nikaniwin Theatre (GTNT) Circle of Voices (COV) program and was casted in “The House You Build” 2014. She also starred in GTNT’s “Spirit World” 2021. April joined the New Voices program in 2019, where she first began working on “Powwow a theatrical production” with her dramaturge Daniel Mcdonald. “Powwow a theatrical production” is April’s playwright debut, and she is excited to see where the world of playwriting will take her.
