Meet Nakota. A young boy who is sick in the hospital and trying to write the greatest story ever.
One day, Grandpa Rocko comes over for a visit. Next thing Nakota knows, he is whisked away
into a world of stories that are right below his feet. Within the land. This show explores the
interplay between stories of the present against the long forgotten stories of the past.
Rocko and Nakota: Tales From the Land ran for 3 months at the Thousand Faces Festival and at
the Ottawa, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria, and Vancouver Fringe Festivals. Audiences
and critics alike saw the play as a powerful marriage of storytelling and transformatively moving
dialogue. See below some statements made by critics and audience members for Rocko and
Nakota: Tales From the Land. This play has also been performed at UNO Fest in Victoria, BC
(Intrepid Theatre); as a Pick Plus for the Vancouver Fringe Festival; and for 5 performances at
the 2019 Blyth Festival. Theatre Prospero toured the show to schools across Alberta as part of
their 2019 theatre season.
