Daniel Macdonald is an award-winning playwright, director, and educator. Grown-up plays include Iago Speaks, Blow Wind, Bang, MacGregor’s Hard Ice Cream and Gas, and Pageant. A History of Breathing, received its UK premiere at the Royal Conservatoire (Glasgow), and Velocity received its European premiere at the Finborough (London) and its American premiere in NYC. He is the author or co-author of numerous plays for young people including These Things I Know, Waking, Tragedie, The Romeo Project, Radiant Boy, and HERE. His devised play with young people, Blind Love had premiered at the Edinburgh International Fringe. He is published by Playwrights Canada Press and Bloomsbury (Modern) Plays – UK. His plays have been short-listed for the Carol Bolt Award for Drama and the Saskatchewan Book of the year. Daniel is a two-time recipient of the City of Regina Writing Award and the winner of the Enbridge PlayRites Award. He is currently writer-in-residence at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, Canada and coordinator/dramaturge for the New Voices program at Gordon Tootoosis Nîkanîwin Theatre in Saskatoon. He makes his home in Saskatoon with Melanie, Xavier, little Augie, and Fenster The Cat.
